Eating Thai Food:
Thai food is usually hot and spicy, although it is possible to temper this for the western palate. The meal is generally a very social and sharing experience, with the food being served in the middle of the table for all to enjoy and unlike Western cuisine, a dish of Thai food is shared between everyone.
A portion of rice is placed onto your plate and one of the dishes is chosen. It is considered bad manners to lump everything together onto one plate. To enjoy the flavour of each dish they are better eaten seperately.
A spoon and fork is used for eating and although chop-sticks can be used they are mainly ignored in Thailand. The food was originally eaten in ancient Siam with the hands.
Rice is the main ingredient of a Thai meal ( Kow Suey ) which in English means 'beautiful rice'. Fried rice is not normally eaten with a Thai meal, but is a meal on its own. Noodle dishes are also included
